| Jacoby Ellsbury gets his first major league homerun to lead off the game and then adds his second major league homerun in the 3rd to up the Sox lead to 4-0, but the Jays come back and win on a John Mc Donald squeeze play in the 9th, spoiling a glorious chance for the Sox to come closer to the division title. With a 5-3 Sox lead entering the bottom of the 9th and Papelbon getting saves the previous two games,. I decided to give Eric Gagne a chance for the save. That move totally backfired in my face, as you can see below. *** BOTTOM OF INNING 9 *** SUBSTITUTE P - Eric Gagne 0 F.Thomas 6- 7 4 Walk b-1 0 1 A.Hill 2- 5 6 Double 1-3 b-2 0 23 G.Zaun 6- 3 4 1 Single 3-H 2-3 b-1 SUBSTITUTE P - Hideki Okajima 0 1 3 A.Lind 4- 7 5 Walk 1-2 b-1 SUBSTITUTE PH- Reed Johnson SUBSTITUTE PR- Ray Olmedo 0 123 R.Johnson 4-10 5 Sac Fly 3-H 2-3 b-0 1 1 3 1 Stolen Base 1-2 1 23 J.McDonald 5 Sac Bunt 3-H 2-3 b-0 |

Adam Lind hit a homerun as the Toronto Blue Jays won in dramatic fashion over
the Boston Red Sox by a score of 6 to 5 at Rogers Centre.
Toronto had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs on 2 hits. Frank Thomas got things going when he drew a walk. Aaron
Hill next to the plate and he doubled. Gregg Zaun then banged out a single
resulting in a run. Lind came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Reed
Johnson stepped into the box and hit a sacrifice fly scoring one more run.
Lind was safe at second on a stolen base. John McDonald was next and he
worked the squeeze play to perfection making Toronto victorious to the
delight of the the home town crowd. Toronto had 8 hits for the night.
Casey Janssen(7-2) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Eric
Gagne(1-4) ended up with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 2 hits
without retiring a batter.
'What a game!,' Janssen said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'
