| Jon Lester gets another sloppy start, walking 5 including two with the bases loaded, and gets the loss. Meanwhile, A's starter Joe Blanton holds the Sox in check for the majority of the game, allowing two big hits - solo homeruns by Big Papi in the 1st inning and Manny in the 9th. The Sox would get another run in the 9th to close within two and get the tying run to first with one out, but Jason Varitek strikes out and Jacoby Ellsbury flies out to end the game. |
