The Rays make it exciting though, in the bottom of the 10th. After a B.J. Upton triple and a Delmon Young hit by pitch off Manny Declarmen with one out, ace bunter Dioner Navarro tries to win the game on a squeeze. Navarro misses the pitch, and Upton is out trying to steal home. Navarro then grounds out to end the inning. First baseman Eric Hinske went deep and had 2 RBI at Tropicana Field where the
powerful Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 11 innings by the
score of 7 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Boston came out on
top in the 11th inning. Boston ended up with 14 hits for the game while
Tampa Bay had 9.
Manny Delcarmen(3-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Gary
Glover(5-8) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 hit and 3 walks
in 1 and 2/3 innings.
