| A much too common occurence this season - fall behind early with shitty pitching and mount the comeback that falls just short. Kyle Lohse surreres his first loss as a Phillie (4-1) in his 9th start with the team, while Pedro Martinez sizzles early in his third game back from rotator cuff surgery before beginning to tire. Rampant running on the basepaths, with seven stolen bases in the game with both Jose Reyes and Michael Bourn each stealing second and third base consecutively in one inning. Fifth straight loss for the Phillies, as they fall to 2-12 for the month of September. |

WEB GEMS- Bot 8th: Aaron Rowand robbed Endy Chavez of a Homerun!
In a close game it was the powerful New York (NL) Mets 8, the Philadelphia
Phillies 6 at Shea Stadium.
Pedro Martinez(2-0) pitched well for New York (NL) in their victory. He
allowed 7 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings. Martinez chalked up 7
strikeouts lowering his ERA from 3.46 to 3.20. Philadelphia was set down
quietly in the 9th.
Martinez got help from Billy Wagner who earned his 37th save. Kyle
Lohse(15-4) was hit with the loss. With this win, New York (NL) has a 90-57
record. They have been 7-3 lately. Philadelphia can't seem to snap out of
their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last
couple weeks.
