Josh Beckett racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Coco Crisp had
2 base hits and 2 RBI at Fenway Park where the very potent Boston Red Sox
beat the New York (AL) Yankees 6 to 3.
Beckett(17-4) escaped virtually unscathed against the New York (AL) hitters.
He allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 1/3 innings. New York (AL) was
out-hit by Boston, 11 hits to 4.
Jonathan Papelbon earned his 42nd save. Chien-Ming Wang(13-8) took the loss.
He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.
Beckett was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the
victory and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'
