Josh Beckett, put into an early hole thanks to some shoddy defense, retires 18 straight Yanks until Bobby Abreu singles with one out in the 9th for win number 17. Taking no chances, Jonathan Papelbon comes in and gets save number 42. Almost a dual complete game as Chein-Ming Wang goes the distance for the Yankees, despite throwing 142 pitches!!

Josh Beckett racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Coco Crisp had
2 base hits and 2 RBI at Fenway Park where the very potent Boston Red Sox
beat the New York (AL) Yankees 6 to 3.
 
Beckett(17-4) escaped virtually unscathed against the New York (AL) hitters.
He allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 1/3 innings.  New York (AL) was
out-hit by Boston, 11 hits to 4.  
 
Jonathan Papelbon earned his 42nd save. Chien-Ming Wang(13-8) took the loss.
He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.  
 
Beckett was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there.  The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates.  We got the
victory and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'
