| It took until September 21st, but the first no-hitter of my SOM season has finally been pitched. Johan Santana pitches a gem against the White Sox. Santana in my 2006 SOM season also pitched a no-hitter, a perfect game against the Tigers. But wait, I haven't mentioned yet that this one is also a perfect game!! Can you believe it?? 27 White Sox come to the plate, and 27 go down in order with 13 via strikeout. Were this real life, Johan Santana would become the first pitcher in major league history to throw two perfect games!!! |

Johan Santana(11-12) joined a select group of baseball pitchers in Minnesota
by tossing a perfect game as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Chicago (AL)
White Sox 4 to nothing.
Santana was spectacular. The Minnesota players and coaches started to leave
Santana alone with his thoughts after the game reached the 7th inning. By
the time the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin drop every time
he went to his wind-up - and an explosion after every out. Santana mowed
down 13 Chicago (AL) batters. Minnesota finished with 9 hits in the victory.
Mark Buehrle(13-10) was tagged with the loss. 'Santana was simply incredible'
losing pitcher Buehrle said. 'I hate to admit this but I'd pay to watch a
man pitch like that'
