| Another agonizing loss for the Sox, as despite Dice-K striking out 12 indians in his 6 innings of work, he allows 4 runs which is all Cleveland needs. The big bats are quieted again as Fausto Carrmona goes 8 innings at not even 100 pitches, and Joe Borowski gets the save in the 9th. Four doubleplays grounded into by the Sox today was the difference in the game. David Ortiz for the series only has a single in 8 trips to the plate while striking out 5 times, one of the big reasons the Sox are now in an 0-2 hole. My last 2 SOM playoffs have also featured Indians-Red Sox in the first round, and in each of those series the Sox jumped in front 2 games to none but lost both series when the Indians won three straight both years. Hopefully that will reverse itself this year, as after an off day the series travels to Cleveland for a Game 3 matchup of Curt Schilling and Jake Westbrook. |
