| The Toronto Blue Jays refuse to bow out quietly in the division race, as they smack 3 homeruns off of Jon Lester which accounts for all five runs. But the big story of the day is missed opportunities for the Sox. In the top of the 3rd down 2-0, they had the bases loaded with one out. A.J. Burnett then blasts his best stuff, striking out Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz to excape the inning unscated. Pedroia would redeem himself with a 2-run homer in the 8th to narrow the gap to two runs, but Big Papi would not. After Coco Crisp doubles and Jeremy Accardo walks Jacoby Ellsbury and Pedroia to load the bases with plenty of speed with two outs in the top of the 9th, Ortiz gets the chance for redemption. Accardo bears down and strikes him out to end the game, to make twice today that Papi strikes out with two outs and the bases loaded. |
