September 27, 2007 Phillies 4, Braves 3

Despite the relatively low score of the game, the lead changed hands 3 times with the Phillies ending up th eventual victors. A Pat Burrell error leads to two unearned runs for the Braves in the 1st inning, with the Phils getting a run back in the bottom of the 1st on a Chase Utley single. Utley would strike again in the 7th with a 2-run homer to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead. The Braves get the run right back in the top of the 8th, then Shane Victorino gets an RBI single in the bottom of the 8th for the eventual winning run.

Utley is smoking on the day, 4 for 5 with the homerun and 3 RBI, and ups his batting average to .341 good for third in the NL. Chipper Jones and ALbert Pujols are tied for first at.358, with Pujols ahead by only .00015. Now that is close!

In other NL news, the Padres win while the Cardinals beat the Mets and the Cubs win their 7th straight. What all that means is that the Cards still lead the Cubs by a game in the Central, and the Padres and Giants are now tied for the West lead with both tied with the Mets for the wildcard. Playoff matchups are uncertain yet, depending on who wins the wildcard since the Braves have the best record in the league. The next three games will tell the story.
