September 16, 2007 Phillies 5, Mets 4

Chase Utley is the star with a 2-run homerun and an RBI single as the Phillies hold on to beat the Mets to break their 5 game slide. Carlos Ruiz also helped out the offense with a two double day.

In league news, Tim Hudson of the Braves joins John Lackey in the 20 win club with a victory over the Nationals. Sensational run for Hudson lately, as he has won his last 9 decisions and in the 10 starts since his last loss almost two months ago (July 24th) has an ERA of 1.29 upping his record to 20-6.

53,735 fans watched an exciting game at Shea Stadium. The Philadelphia
Phillies snapped their 5 game slide and topped the New York (NL) Mets by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Adam Eaton(7-13) got the win despite looking shaky at times. He gave up 4
runs, 10 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. Tom Gordon earned the save with a
perfect ninth, his 9th save.

Oliver Perez(7-5) was the losing pitcher. Despite the loss, he struckout 10
Philadelphia batters in 7 and 2/3 innings. 'It's been a rough ride lately,
but this was a good win for us' said Gary Lucas, 'Maybe this will put us back
on track.'
