Those stats will give Ludwick the series MVP award, one of the few times in history that a series MVP will be from the losing team. Just no denying him the award with that kind of series, win or lose. The National League Championship Series, featuring the New York Mets against the Atlanta Braves, will begin October 11th in Atlanta. Andruw Jones hit 2 doubles at Busch Stadium where the Atlanta Braves beat the
St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 9 to 3.
Atlanta came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning when they scored 6
runs on 6 hits. The key at-bat was by Chipper Jones who deflated the mood of
the partisan fans when he smashed a two-run homer (his 1st of the season).
Atlanta out-hit St. Louis for the game, 13 hits to 9.
Peter Moylan(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings. Ryan
Franklin(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and no
walks in 1/3 of an inning.
