| It looked good early when Aaron Rowand slams a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning, but the Rockies score 9 unanswered runs to take what looks like an insurmountable lead. The Phils make it interesting though, getting a run on a doubleplay grounder in the 8th and 3 more runs with the tying run on first and 2 out in the 9th, but Wes Helms strikes out to end the game on another losing note. League news - John Lackey of the Angels becomes the majors first 20 game winner (20-6), getting win number 20 with a 10 strikeout performance against the Orioles. Tim Hudson of the Braves and John Maine of the Mets are next in line at 19-6 and 19-9 respectivelly. |

Troy Tulowitzki hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Colorado Rockies
defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 9 to 7 at Citizen's Bank
Park.
Philadelphia was unable to recover after Colorado went ahead in the 3rd inning
when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits. Philadelphia had a chance to come back in
the 9th but they came up short.
Jeff Francis(11-9) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Manny Corpas
recorded his 17th save. J.D. Durbin(3-2) was the losing pitcher. He was not
very effective, surrendering 8 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Despite losing Gary Lucas was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over this
one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one of a
dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
