Brett Tomko took a no-hitter into the 8th inning as the spectacular San Diego
Padres defeated the San Francisco Giants by a score of 2 to 1 at AT&T
Park.

Tomko(7-6) was virtually untouchable. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 1 hit and 1 walk in 7 and 2/3 innings. The right-handed Tomko lost his
chance for a no-hitter when Rajai Davis doubled with two outs in the 8th
inning. San Francisco was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the
9th.

Heath Bell earned his 5th save. Matt Cain(17-7) took the loss. He pitched 6
innings and surrendered 5 hits and 4 walks.
