| The Twins get all of the runs they need in the first inning on a Justin Morneau 2-run single as the Sox lose the finale. A tightly pitched game on both sides, as Twins starter Matt Garza didn't allow his first run of the game until he had already left the game and Julian Tavares, save for the first inning, does fairly decent. The American League divisional series against the Cleveland Indians is next on the schedule for the Red Sox |

At Fenway Park, the Boston fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Matt
Garza(5-5) finally bested his Boston opposite, Julian Tavarez(7-8), by the
score of 2 to 1.
Minnesota set the tone of the game in the first inning when they tallied 2
runs on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Garza and
Minnesota. That was all the run support Garza required. Minnesota had 7
hits for the afternoon.
Joe Nathan was credited with his 34th save. Tavarez was given the loss. He
gave up 6 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
