| Adam Eaton has his 7th consecutive start without a loss, although up until the 7th inning he was in line for the loss as the Nats led 4-2. Ryan Howard changed all that on one pitch, smashing a 3-run shot off of Chris Schroder in the 7th for homerun number 50 and gives the Phillies the lead that they would not relinquish. Despite Howard's 50 homeruns for the year, he does not lead the league as Adam Dunn of the Reds has 53. The 3 RBI for the game does however give Howard the NL RBI lead with 124, one ahead of Dunn and two ahead of the Brewer's Prince Fielder. And one ignomious lead leading stat for Ryan Howard - strikeouts, as you would expect. Right now, a major league leading 187 K's, over 25 more than the second most. 84% of Howard's plate appearances on the year have resulted in either a hit (144), walk (96) or a strikeout. |
