| The Sox cruise to the win as Tim Wakefield dominates. Entering the 9th, Wake had only faced two over the minumum - a Jason Tyner single in the 4th and he hit Michael Cuddyer with a pitch in the 5th inning. In the 9th, the Twins get the first three on with two singles and a walk and a force out at second scores a run. Eric Gagne comes in to pitch at that point with Wake's bid for a shutout gone, and allows both inherited runners to eventually score. Alex Cora is the star on offense, with a 4 for 5 day. The funny thing is that the one time that Cora did not get a hit, he hit a doubleplay grounder that scored the first run of the game which would have been the game-winning RBI. But no RBI on a double play, so no game winning RBI today! |
