| The Los Angeles Angels are one victory away from the World Series after a hard-fought win over the Indians puts them up 3 games to none. Neither starter, John Lackey or Jake Westbrook, was all that effective today as Westbrook didn't make it out of the second inning after allowing 3 unearned Angel runs, and Lackey was done in the 5th after two singles and two walks score a run. The Indians would get another run on a Travis Hafner sac fly in the 5th, and then Asdrubal Cabreara ties the game 3-3 in the 6th with a sac fly of his own. Hafner tries to put the Indians in front in the bottom of the 7th by scoring from second on a single, but Kenny Lofton throws him out at the plate to preserve the tie. The Angels take their lead back in the top of the 8th on a Casey Kotchman sac fly, the Indians threaten in the 9th with singles for Casey Blake and Hafner with two out, but Ryan Garko strikes out to end the game. The Angels will try for the sweep and punch their ticket to the World Series in game 4, sending Ervin Santana to the hill to battle the Indians' Paul Byrd. |
