Both starters, Smoltz and Pedro Martinez, traded gooseggs on the scoreboard until the Braves 5th inning, when all four of their runs score via an Edgar Renteria RBI single and a 3-run nomerun for Chipper Jones. Smoltz almost gets the shutout, but a solo homerun for Carlos Beltran with one out in the top of the 9th spoiles it. After a walk, Rafael Soriano comes in and gets an out and allows a hit to bring the tying run to the plate with two outs. Shawn Green grounds out weakly to second, and Braves win! For the pivotal game 7, it will be Tom Glavine for the Mets against Chris James for the Braves, with the winner advancing to the World Series. Chipper Jones blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Atlanta Braves defeated
