Any chance for a no-hitter (or a shutout, for that matter) was erased on the very first Oriole batter when Brian Roberts gets an inside the park homerun to lead off the game. Bobby Kielty has his best day as a member of the Sox as he gets the start in right field, with an RBI single in the 5th and a big 3-run homerun in the 7th for his first Sox homer. |

Right fielder Bobby Kielty connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI as the
Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 6 to 3 at
Fenway Park.
Boston jumped on top of Baltimore in the bottom of the 5th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. Dustin Pedroia started the inning off right when he
lined a one-base hit. David Ortiz stepped into the batter's box and he
slapped a single. Mike Lowell then hit a deep fly bringing in a run. Kevin
Youkilis came up and he drew a walk. Jason Varitek came to the plate and
stroked a single plating one more runner. Varitek took second on the throw.
Kielty continued the rally and delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of
the inning. Boston had 11 hits for the game and Baltimore had 7.
Clay Buchholz(1-1) allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Garrett Olson(2-2) took the loss. He allowed 5 hits and 4 walks in
4 and 1/3 innings.
