August 25, 2007 White Sox 3, Red Sox 0

Jermaine Dye knocks in two of the White Sox 3 runs as Tim Wakefield is saddled with the tough luck loss. Not a bad start for Wake, as doubles in the 2nd by Paul Konerko and Dye score one, and a Dye homer in the 7th gets another run for the only runs off him in almost 7 innings of work, but it is hard to win a game if your teammates do not get on base.

The Chicago pitchers hold the Sox to only two hits - a Manny single in the 1st and a Papi single in the 9th. In what seemed like a surprize move to me, White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle was lifted with one out in the 7th despite only allowing one hit and only at 87 pitches and retiring 10 straight. Apparently it paid off, as four Chicago relievers hold the Sox scoreless the remainder of the game, with Bobby Jenks getting save number 43 and preserving the combined shutout.
