| What started out as a good pitchers duel between Daisuke Matsuzaka and Edwin Jackson turns into a Rays romp thanks to Kyle Snyder. Snyder allows the Rays 5 of the 6 runs they would score in the bottom of the 8th, as the Rays erase a 3-2 Sox lead. The first run of the game for the Sox was an interesting trip around the bases for JD Drew. He walked, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scores on a wild pitch for one run on zero hits! Carlos Pena's RBI double would tie the game 1-1 in the 4th, Julio Jugo's 10th homer of the year gives the Sox 2 runs in the top of the 7th for the 3-1 lead. Carlos Pena collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI at Tropicana Field as
the Tampa Bay Devil Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 8 to 3.
Tampa Bay won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 6
runners on 6 hits. The key at-bat was by Jonny Gomes who made the Tampa Bay
fans a happy lot when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. For the game
Tampa Bay out-hit Boston 13 to 4.
Juan Salas(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Kyle Snyder(3-1) in relief.
