| Mike Lowell, seeking revenge for making two errors unrelated to the scoring in the first inning, puts the hammer to the ball after that. Lowell goes 4 for 4 and smokes out two homers, both solo shots in the 2nd and 4th. Two singles also, with one of them in the 7th part of the winning 3 run outburst, with a Youkilis double scoring the other two runs. Jon Lester has the Rays swinging, striking out a surprising 10 in his 5 2/3 inning of work, but 2 homeruns allowed had the game a 3-3 tie until the Sox outburst in the 7th. He didn't get the win though, as Manny Declarmen had come in to pitch before the end of the 6th and gets the win. Paps with the save for the second straight day for number 36. |

Jon Lester mowed down 10 Tampa Bay batters and third baseman Mike Lowell
slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay
Devil Rays 6 to 3 at Tropicana Field.
Lowell provided much of the offense. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 2nd
inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 11th of the season) in the 4th
inning, laced a base-knock in the 6th inning and laced a one-base hit plating
a run in the 7th inning. Boston totaled 10 hits on the night.
The win went to Manny Delcarmen(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Delcarmen was helped out by Jonathan Papelbon who recorded his 36th save.
Gary Glover(5-6) was tagged with the loss in relief.
