August 20, 2007 Red Sox 3, Devil Rays 1

Mike Lowell's 2-run double in the top of the 1st inning would prove to be enough as Tim Wakefield and Scott Kazmir treat the fans to a decent pitchers duel. JD Drew would get a solo shot in the top of the 6th for a 3-0 lead, and the Rays would finally get on the scoreboard via a Delmon Young RBI single in the bottom of the 6th. Young almost played hero however in the 8th. After BJ Upton walks and Carlos Pena singles off of Hideki Okajima with two out, Jonathan Papelbon comes in from the 'pen to close it out. First batter Young rips a long flyball to center, but as you will see in the web gems Coco Crisp makes the spectacular over the wall catch to deny Young of a 3-run homerun, which would have given the Rays a 4-3 lead. Instead, the inning ends with the Sox still up 3-1 and 3-1 would be the final as Paps saves number 35.

Tim Wakefield(9-11) and Scott Kazmir(10-8) treated the Tampa Bay fans to a
fine pitching duel at Tropicana Field.  The Boston Red Sox eventually emerged
as victors over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by the score of 3 to 1.
 
Wakefield pitched a solid game.  He went 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 2
walks.  Jonathan Papelbon pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his
35th save.
