| The Angels show off their league leading base stealing ability and run roughshod on the bases off of the battery of Tim Wakefield and Doug Mirabelli to the tune of six stolen bases including two double steals, but it would be the long ball that would decide the game in the end. The Halos get two right out of the gate in the first inning, but the never-say-die Bosox erase the defecit with single runs in the 5th, 7th and 8th for the 3-2 lead. The Angels would get a run in the bottom of the 8th to tie it, and then the excitement happens. After Chone Figgins leads off the 9th with a double, Orlando Cabrera gets walked intentionally. Eric Gagne comes into the game in relief of Hideki Okajima, strikes out Vlad Guerrero for out number one, but Garrett Anderson smashes a towering fly over the wall in left good for 3 runs and the Angels walk-off victory celebration. Only one hit for Manny today, but he was robbed of two others. Chone Figgins robbed him in the 3rd, and Gary Matthews Jr. mafr a shoestring catch with a runner on second and two out in the Sox 9th to prevent the Sox from scoring the go ahead run. |

impressive Los Angeles(AL) Angels won a dramatic crowd-pleaser over Boston Red
Sox at Angels Stadium pulling it out in their last at bats, 6 to 3.
Los Angeles(AL) came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs
using 2 hits. Chone Figgins led off the inning for Los Angeles(AL) when he
doubled. Orlando Cabrera was next and he was walked intentionally. Vladimir
Guerrero was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Garret Anderson
followed and he belted a three-run homer (his 13th of the season) giving Los
Angeles(AL) the victory and sending the 42,999 home-town fans home happy.
Los Angeles(AL) finished with 10 hits in the victory.
Scot Shields(9-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Hideki
Okajima(5-6) was charged with the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 2
hits in 2/3 of an inning.
