Daisuke Matsuzaka had a strong outing as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
Seattle Mariners 5 to 0 at SAFECO Field.
Matsuzaka(12-5) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Seattle
hitters. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing
his ERA drop from 4.47 to 4.20. Boston rapped out 12 hits for the night.
Jarrod Washburn(8-10) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 3
walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. 'When Matsuzaka is on like that it is a tough
game to play, no doubt about it,' John McLaren said. 'He always pitches well
against us.'
