| The Phillies jump out to the 8-0 lead off Dave Bush with Cole Hamels smoking right along. Hamels retired the first nine straight until a Corey (I wear my sunglasses at night) Hart walk to lead off the 4th and didn't allow a hit until Bill Hall led off the 5th with a single. Hamels fell apart after that, as the Brewers get 4 in that 5th inning and 2 more in the 6th before the Phillie relievers take charge. The relief corps for both teams were sensational today, with the Phillie relievers pitching one hit ball over the final 3 2/3 innings, while the Brewer relievers only allow 2 hits over the final 4 1/3. Brett Myers gets the save, his first save since May 17th. |

Left fielder Pat Burrell hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the
Philadelphia Phillies topped the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 8 to 6 at
Miller Park.
The game started off with Philadelphia taking the lead in the first when they
scored 2 runs on 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Jimmy Rollins who
deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run (his 22nd of the season). Philadelphia took care of
Milwaukee with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
The win went to Cole Hamels(7-10) who allowed 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Hamels got relief help from Brett Myers who gained credit for his 4th save.
David Bush(5-8) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
8 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
With this win, Philadelphia has a 49-61 record. They have been 7-3 lately.
With the loss, Milwaukee has a record of 5-5 lately, 49-62 overall.
