August 3, 2007 Mariners 4, Red Sox 1

The Red Sox begin a six game west coast trip in Seattle, and were it not for Richie Sexon's bat they would have won this game with a 1-0 shutout. Instead, Sexon spoils an otherwise solid start for Jon Lester with a 3-run homer in the first inning, and adds a solo clout in the 8th off Kyle Snyder for all four Mariner runs. The lone Sox run for the day also came on a homerun, when Manny Ramirez ripped number 27 over the fence in the 7th inning.

First baseman Richie Sexson ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at SAFECO Field
where the Seattle Mariners beat the Boston Red Sox by the score of 4 to
1.
 
The Seattle fans enjoyed the offense provided by Sexson.  He lofted a
three-run 'big-fly' in the 1st inning and cracked a solo homerun (his 17th of
the season) in the 8th inning.  Seattle ended up with 11 hits for the game
while Boston had 4.  
 
Horacio Ramirez(7-1) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory.
J.J. Putz got the save, his 25th.  Jon Lester(0-1) was hit with the loss.
Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 9 batters in 6 innings.
