August 16, 2007 Phillies 5, Nationals 0

Washington Nationals, thy name is suckass. The streaking Phillies win their 7th straight, sweeping the Nats and sending them into a tie with the Detroit Tigers for baseball's worst record. The Phils shut out the Nats for the second straight day, with Cole Hamels going the distance in a less than 100 pitch 3-hitter. Hamels seems to finally found his groove after his season long struggles, winning his 3rd straight start.

The Nationals could do nothing all game, only once getting a runner as far as second base, and that was only because Jimmy Rollins threw a sure out into the dugout for the two base error. The Phillies meanwhile, get a 2-run blast for Ryan Howard and a 2-run shot for Jayson Werth in the 4th inning for four runs, and an Aaron Rowand RBI single adds another run in the 8th.

Cole Hamels held Washington scoreless on just 3 hits as the red-hot
Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals by the score of 5 to
0 at RFK STADIUM.

Hamels(8-10) simply dominated Washington. He allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings. Philadelphia rapped out 9 hits for the night.

Joel Hanrahan(0-2) was hit with the loss. Manny Acta was obviously impressed
with the pitching of Hamels, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there
tonight. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for
him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'
