| The top three spots in the order go 0 for 12, but it is the bottom reaches of the order which sizzle today. #6 Jayson Werth goes 3 for 4 falling a homer shy of the cycle and scores 3 times, #7 Carlos Ruiz 1 for 3 with a double, and #8 Abraham Nunez gets the star of the game award going 3 for 3 with 3 doubles, driving in 4 runs in the process. Jamie Moyer, by far the most consistent starter for the season, gets his team leading 9th win. The Phillies gain a good chunk of ground in the division and wild card races with the sweep of the Braves. 14-6 in the last 20 games, as they are finally playing like they should be. However, the Phillies still sit 20 games behind the Mets in the division, and 19 1/2 behind the Braves for the wild card. For the Phillies to equal their actual season record, they will have to go 35-10 the rest of the way. A tall order, to say the least. If you are curious, the Red Sox can go 24-21 to equal their actual record. |
