August 10, 2007 Red Sox 7, Orioles 5

Daisuke Matsuzaka gets win number 13 to again tie Josh Beckett for the team win lead in the see saw battle for that honor and Jonathan Papelbon gets an unexpected save as the Sox beat the O's. The Sox only scored in two innings, three runs in the 2nd for the 3-0 lead and four runs in the 8th for a 7-2 lead. That 7-2 lead seemed to put the game away until the Orioles woke up in the bottom of the 9th by scoring 4 runs after the first two batters made outs, but Paps get the Sox out of the jam.

Here is the Orioles 9th:

Julio Lugo had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
Baltimore Orioles by the score of 7 to 5 at Camden Yards.

Daisuke Matsuzaka(13-5) delivered a fine performance for Boston. He went 7
innings allowing 4 hits and 2 walks. Baltimore threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.

Matsuzaka got relief help from Jonathan Papelbon who gained credit for his
31st save. Erik Bedard(6-12) took the loss. 'Just one or two mistakes were
all it took to beat us tonight' Dave Trembley said. 'We take these games one
day at a time, but this one was hard to take.'
