July 20, 2007 Red Sox 1, White Sox 0

Here is something you don't see often - a double complete game! In a classic pitchers duel Josh Beckett , going for his 10th win of the year outduels Jose Contreras, who was trying to avoid his 10th loss of the year. The only run of the game scored in the Red Sox 6th, when Julio Lugo singles, is bunted to second by Coco Crisp, Dustin Pedroia reaches on an error (committed by Contreras, no less!) with Lugo going to 3rd, and Lugo scores on a David Ortiz sac fly.

Beckett throws the 5-hitter and whiffs 12 White Sox to join Dice-K in the 10 win club. Contreras allowed no earned runs for the game (maybe 1/2 an earned run, since he committed the error LOL) but still drops to 1-10. Had Contreras got some run support, he might have had his first with since April 9th, 3 1/2 months ago!!

Josh Beckett racked up an impressive total of 12 strikeouts at Fenway Park
where the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox 1 to
0.

Beckett(10-4) dominated Chicago (AL) hitters. He gave up just 5 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.24 to 3.93. Chicago (AL) had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

The loss was charged to Jose Contreras(1-10). He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.

'Everything felt great' Beckett said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody tonight.'
