| Alex Gordon of the Royals proves to be a royal pain in the ass today, going 4 for 4 including a big 3-run homerun in the 6th to knock an otherwise fairly solid Kason Gabbard out of the game as KC ends the Sox 6 game winning streak. Not that the Sox had done much before Gordon's homer, as Brian Bannister had held them to 2 hits and zero runs until that point and trailing 4-0. Mike Lowell woke the Sox up with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 7th to end Bannister's day, but that was as close as they would get. The Sox did mount a threat in the 9th off of lone Royals all-star rep Joakim Soria with two walks, but Coco Crisp grounds out to end the game and leaves Dustin Pedroia in the on deck circle. Pedroia, 0 for 4, has his hitting streak snapped at 14 games. That 14 game streak is tied for second longest with David Ortiz for the season, as Manny had a 19 game hitting streak earlier in the season. |
