| A nice spread out offense gives the Sox their 6th straight win, as they complete the four game sweep of the Blue Jays. The Sox jumped out to the quick 5-0 lead, but Josh Beckett shows a little bit of rust allowing the Jays to close back within a run despite 9 strikeouts. The Sox score 5 unanswered runs in the 7th and 8th innings, and coast to the win. 13-2 in their last 15 games. As recently as June 26th, the Blue Jays and the Red Sox were tied for first. Now that the Sox have a 13-2 run combined with the Jays current 6 game losing streak and 5-10 since June 26th, the Sox have an 8 game lead over Toronto and the Jays have dropped to third. The Yankees have snuck into second place, 4 1/2 behind the Sox. |
