July 15, 2007 Cardinals 9, Phillies 0

In a reversal of recent fortunes, the Cardinals get out the bats ripping out 18 hits (Albert Pujols and Sanford native David Eckstein each had 4 of them) and whitewash the Phillies. It was the battle of the Adams on the mound, unfourtunately the one with STL on his hat pitched a hell of a lot better than the one with the P on his. Adam Wainwright for the Cards almost goes the distance, but due to a high pitch count Russ Springer gets the final hitter and preserves the shutout. The Phils Adam, Adam Eaton, continues to suck ass allowing 11 hits and 7 runs in less that 5 innings in falling to a pathetic 4-11, 6.77 ERA on the season.

Tom Gordon, fresh off the DL, got in some action today pitching a scoreless 8th inning.

Albert Pujols had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Citizen's Bank Park as the St. Louis
Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9 to 0.

Pujols was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He doubled plating two runs in the 3rd inning,
doubled in the 5th inning, laced a base-knock bringing in two baserunners in
the 5th inning and stroked a base-hit in the 8th inning. St. Louis ended up
with 18 hits for the game while Philadelphia had 6.

Adam Wainwright(7-9) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Adam Eaton(4-11) absorbed the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11
hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
