| Apparently the all-star break was just the tonic that the ailing Phillies needed. They rip the Cards for the second straight day, with only a Ryan Ludwick pinch-hit homer in the 9th keeping the Phils from another shutout. Cole Hamels gets his first win in over a month with 6 innings of shutout ball, and only the 4th start in 19 overall that he has not allowed a homer. Speaking of homeruns, the Phils bats were swinging again today with two blasts for Wes Helms, all-star Jimmy Rollins added his third homer in two days with a solo shot, and Pat Burrell seems to have finally gotten on track with a homer for the second consecutive day. Also, a nice 4 for 5 day from all-star Chase Utley to add to the 14 hit attack. 23 runs and 28 hits in two consecutive games for the Phillies. |
