| In a homer filled game with 8 hit between the two teams, the Reds make a bit better use of theirs and come away victorious in a slugfest. Ryan Howard of the Phils smashes 3 homers and knocks in 5 runs, all in a losing cause. Adam Dunn of the Reds slams 2 dingers, and Scott Hatteberg, Josh Hamilton, and Aaron Rowand also join the homer barrage. Howard and Rowand in fact went back to back in the Phillie 3rd inning (3-run shot for Howard), at the time giving the Phillies the 6-5 lead. That lead, however, did not hold up as both teams kept smashing away. How Reds starter Mark Belisle stayed in to go 8 innings allowing 7 runs and 4 homers, I will never know. But, he comes away with the win and Adam Eaton gets the loss. Loss number 9 for Eaton, in a tie for second most in the majors. Odalis Perez of KC (3-10) and Jeff Suppan of Milwaukee (4-10) have the most. |
