| The Phils win a wild one with 3 runs in a crazy 11th inning. After the continuing to struggle Cole Hamels had staked the Cards to a 6-2 lead after 3 innings, the Phillies get 2 in the 4th and two more in the 7th. In the 7th, Carlos Ruiz led off with a single. Shane Victorino comes in to pinch-run, and steals second. Rod Barajas pinch-hits for the pitcher, and rips a double for an RBI. Barajas goes to third on a groundout by Jimmy Rollins (which at the time looked to possibly end his 18 game hitting streak), and scores on a wild pitch by Randy Flores to tie the game at 6. Rollins would get another chance for a hit though in the 11th. Jason Werth walks, an out, and Barajas singles with Werth to second. Rollins comes to plate looking to extend the streak, but makes good anyway as his grounder is thrown over the first basemans head for a two base error and a run scoring. After an out, consecutive walks to Utley (intentional), Howard and Rowand force two more runs across the plate. Rollins does score twice, but the hitting streak is snapped at 18 games. |

At Busch Stadium the Philadelphia Phillies outscored the St. Louis Cardinals
in 11 innings 9 to 6.
Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Philadelphia came
out the victor in the 11th inning. Jayson Werth started the inning off right
when he drew a walk. Shane Victorino was the next batter, but he struck out.
Rod Barajas then delivered a base-hit. Jimmy Rollins came up and he reached
on an error plating a run. One out later, Chase Utley stepped in and he was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Ryan Howard continued the rally and
drew a walk scoring one more run. Aaron Rowand next to the plate and he drew
a walk scoring the final run of the inning. Both teams ended up with 10 hits
on the afternoon.
Clay Condrey(6-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Condrey got relief help from Antonio Alfonseca who gained credit for
his 2nd save. Troy Cate(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief. It was a
tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 2 innings of
work.
