| A very sloppy game in the desert heat (3 errors for each team) leads to only 3 earned runs out of the 7 scored today. Julian Tavarez's ERA doesn't go up even with allowing all 3 Arizona runs, as all were unearned. A 3-3 game entering the 9th, then the Sox come alive again. After Ortiz flies out, Kevin Youkilis (batting cleanup today - Manny originally a day off) singles. I brought Manny in after all, as he pinch-hits for JD Drew, and doesn't dissapoint as he rips a double with Youk stopping at third. Jason Varitek is intentionally walked to load the bases to set up the force play. Eric Hinske hits a deep fly ball to left field, deep enough to score Youk to give the Sox the 4-3 lead. Paps comes in for the D'Backs 9th, and that is all she wrote. Game over. Good ol' Micah Owings was responsible for 2 of the Arizona runs with a 2-run double in the 2nd inning (I am really starting to hate this guy LOL), but also makes 2 errors in the field with one scoring one of the Sox runs. Hero turns to goat, I guess. |
