The first was a Ryan Howard 2-run shot into the fountains in the 7th for some insurance runs and a 5-2 lead, but the Royals got 2 right back in the bottom of the 7th to make the score 5-4. In the 8th, the Phillies explode for 5 runs, with the big blow being an Aaron Rowand bases loaded double to clear the bases, good for 3 RBI and put the icing on the cake. Gil Meche, who pitched a no-hitter in my SOM against the Red Sox last season, gets the loss for the Royals allowing 5 runs, with only one being earned. |
