| The Red Sox begin the main part of the interleague schedule with their first ever trip to the Grand Canyon State (the other time the Sox and D'Backs played was in Fenway in 2002) with a solid Josh Beckett winning his 7th of the season. The top of the order was smokin again today, as 1-2 hitters Dustin Pedroia and Coco Crisp both go 3 for 5. Might have finally found a leadoff man in Pedroia after 60 games of searching. Beckett goes 8, only allowing one run. I was tempted to leave him in when he came up in the 9th to try to go the distance, but didn't as Kevin Youkilis came in to pinch hit. Youk took over at first for David Ortiz for the 9th, as Papi had already made an error in the game showing why he is the DH and not the first baseman. Mike Timlin pitches the 9th showing a little rust in his first game back, allowing a couple of runs but it made no difference in the outcome. 4th straight win for the Sox, and 10-1 in their last 11 games. |
