| I wasn't sure how this game would turn out at first with two struggling pitchers on the mound, both with ERAs over 5.00 and a combined 4-14 record between them, but Cole Hamels gets back to his winning form over the now 1-8 Jose Contreras. Hamels scatters 7 singles for the shutout, the first complete game shutout for a Phillie pitcher this season and the second complete game (also by Hamels.). Hamels strikes out 8 along the way, putting him one shy on the 100 mark at 99 K for the year so far. BTW, the only teams so far without a shutout are the Reds, Yankees and Devil Rays. The only ones without a complete game are the Red Sox, Brewers and Nationals. |
