| Jamie Moyer finally gets win number 2 as the Phillies get out the broom, sweeping the Royals for their first sweep and first 3 game winning streak of the season, but it didn't look that way in the beginning. KC storms out in front in the 1st inning, scoring 4 runs jumping out to the 4-0 lead off Moyer. Ol' Jamie settled down after that, retiring 18 of the next 20 to face him while the Phils slowly pecked away at the lead. A run in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th and 2 more in the 5th to take the 5-4 lead. Then things got interesting. With Tony Pena Jr. at third and Joey Gathright at first in the bottom of the 7th inning and Ryan Madson on the mound, the Royals try to tie the game right then with a double steal attempt of second and home. The Phils aren't fooled, getting Pena at home while Gathright goes to second and was stranded there. That seemed to suck the wind right out of the sails, as the Phils ice the game with a 3 run 8th. After that 4 run 1st inning, the Royals did not score again. Nest up for the Phils - the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers at home, then a 3 game series in Cleveland. |
