May 26, 2007 Rangers 8, Red Sox 7

David Ortiz knocks in 5 of the Sox runs, and his big 3-run smash in the 6th definitely helped, but the Rangers ripped Tim Wakefield for 8 runs in 3+ innings jumping out to an 8-0 lead. Papi does his best to close the cap singlehandedly, and a Manny groundout for an RBI in the 8th made the score 8-7, but that was as close as the Sox would get. Still a hell of a comeback after being down 8-0.

Papi is now 2nd in the AL batting race at .371, leads the league with his 22 doubles, and second in RBI with 41. His 12 homers ins 5th, with two players with 13 and two with 14 ahead of him. Damn impressive numbers so far.

Boston Red Sox 8 to 7.

Texas jumped on top of Boston in the 3rd inning when they scored 4 runs on 5
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Sammy Sosa who made the Texas fans
a happy lot when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 9th of the
season). Both teams ended up with 11 hits on the night.

The win went to Vicente Padilla(3-4) who allowed 3 runs in 5 innings. Joaquin
Benoit got the save, his 5th. The loss was charged to Tim Wakefield(2-6).
He was not very effective, surrendering 8 runs in 3 innings.
