Meanwhile, Braves starter Buddy Carlyle, in his season debut, pitches 8 inning of shutout ball until the Phils finally woke up in the 9th. RBI singles for Shane Victorino and Chase Utley and an RBI double for Ryan Howard (in a nice 3 for 4 day with 2 doubles) give them 3 runs, but too little too late. |

At Turner Field the Atlanta Braves easily handled the Philadelphia Phillies by
the score of 7 to 3.
Buddy Carlyle(1-0) gave a fine effort for Atlanta. He was reached for 9 hits
and 5 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Philadelphia had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.
Adam Eaton(2-6) was hit with the loss. He allowed Atlanta 7 runs in 4 and 2/3
innings of work. 'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us
today' Gary Lucas said. 'We take these games one day at a time, but this one
was hard to take.'
