First baseman Mark Teixeira launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Texas
Rangers beat the Boston Red Sox by a score of 9 to 5.
Teixeira enjoyed a great evening at the plate. Every time he came up in the
latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He cracked a two-run
shot in the 1st inning, lined a base-hit in the 5th inning and smacked a
three-run homer (his 13th of the season) in the 6th inning. Overall Texas
out-hit Boston 13 to 8.
The victory went to Wes Littleton(1-0) who went 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Daisuke Matsuzaka(5-3) ended up with the loss. He was unable to
control the Texas offense and allowed 12 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Teixeira said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
