| The Phillies suffer their biggest choke of the season, but get the lead back and win. First, the Phils score big off Byung-Hung Kim for a 6 run 3rd inning, knocking Kim out early. Freddy Garcia has his fourth good start in a row, 1 run and 4 hits in 7, leaving the game with a win seemingly guaranteed with an 8-1 lead. That start is totally wasted, as Francisco Rosario and Geoff Geary suck the joint out in the Marlins 8th, allowing 7 runs as the Marlins tie the game. Geary REALLY sucked - not retiring a batter, allowing four hits and two homers. Also, the Phillies move out of last place finally as the Washington Nationals, who just ended a nine game losing streak, have moved below them. |

Freddy Garcia went 7 strong innings at Dolphins Stadium as the Philadelphia
Phillies beat the Florida Marlins by the count of 11 to 8.
Philadelphia won the game with a rally in the 9th inning with 3 runs on 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Aaron Rowand kicked off the action when he
single-handedly provided the offense with a solo home run (his 8th of the
season). Greg Dobbs stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Abraham O.
Nunez then drew a walk. Kevin Gregg then threw a pitch that the catcher
muffed. Rod Barajas came to the plate and was hit by a pitch. Jayson Werth
did his part to keep things going and drew a walk plating one more runner.
Pat Burrell was next and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the
inning. Ryan Madson was perfect in the ninth giving him his 1st save on the
season.
The victory was credited to Clay Condrey(4-0) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Gregg(1-4) in relief.
