May 20, 2007 Red Sox 6, Braves 4

The Sox get 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th in Kason Gabbard's season debut (although Gabbard wasn't involved in the decision) to beat the Braves. Braves starter Tim Hudson was still on the mound to begin the 8th, having four complete games so far this season, in a 4-4 tie game. Hudson got the first out, and then walks J. D. Drew, Jason Varitek and Eric Hinske in succession to load the bases. Hudson was obviously done at that point, and the Braves call on Bob Wickman. I was tempted with only one out and Alex Cora at the plate to try the squeeze since there was only one out, but with Drew on third even though he isn't a bad runner, I decided against it. Cora swings away, and gets a base hit to score Drew anyway! Dustin Pedroia gets a sac fly to score Varitek, and Paps nails down the 9th for the 6-4 victory!

Next up for the Sox: the dreaded Yankees, who lead the Sox in the East by 2 1/2 games. Time to gain some ground on those assholes LOL
