May 8, 2007 Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 5

A spectacular start for Josh Beckett (7 inn, 1 run, 9 K), but he is denied the sure win thanks to Kyle Snyder. With the Sox holding a 4-1 lead, Snyder sucks out the joint in the 8th inning as he cannot retire a batter, allowing the Jays 4 runs on a solo homer by Adam Lind and a 3-run blast for Troy Glaus which would give the Jays the 5-4 lead.

Not wanting to do their best Philadelphia Phillies imitation with blowing leads, the Sox make amends in the top of the 9th. After a groundout, a walk to Dustin Pedroia and a single for Julio Lugo, Kevin Youkilis rips one to left. Here comes Pedroia home, but the throw beats him and he is out at the plate. Two outs, runners on second and third as they advanced on the throw home. Jeremy Accardo doesn't want anything to do with the next batter, Big Papi, so he intentionally walks him to face Manny. Manny rips a single to right to score two and give the Sox their lead back, 6-5. Paps comes on for the 9th for save number 7 on the year.
