May 3, 2007 Giants 4, Phillies 3

Rich Aurilia blasts a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning for the 23-4 San Francisco Giants as they hold on to beat the Phillies. The Phils drew first blood on Chase Utley's 2-run single in the top of the 3rd, but Aurilia squelched that quick lead with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the inning. The Giants would get another run in the 4th, proving to be the eventual winning run as Pat Burrell gets the other Phillie RBI with an 8th inning single. Armando Benitez pitches a 1-2-3 9th, and the Phils lose again.

One run was the difference at AT&T Park as the San Francisco Giants defeated
the Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 3.

In the 3rd inning San Francisco scored 3 runs. After an out was recorded,
Matt Cain got things rolling when he banged out a single. Dave Roberts was
next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Randy Winn then drew a walk.
Rich Aurilia was up next and he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 1st of the
season). The Philadelphia bats were silent in the 9th.

Cain(5-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 2 runs.
Armando Benitez earned the save, his 1st. Adam Eaton(1-4) suffered the loss.

The winning ways continue for San Francisco. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. Philadelphia has a record of 9-19, worst in the division after
the loss.
