The Sox prove that the old adage holds true - you can't win a game without scoring any runs. Justin Verlander is on top of his game and shuts out the Sox on 5 hits and remains undefeated on the season at 4-0. Tim Wakefield with the loss drops to a dismal 1-5.

Justin Verlander pitched a complete game shutout and second baseman Placido
Polanco had 2 base hits at Fenway Park where the Detroit Tigers beat the
Boston Red Sox by the score of 4 to 0.
 
Verlander(4-0) simply dominated Boston.  He gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings lowering his ERA from 2.94 to 2.48.  Detroit rapped out 9 hits for
the night.  
 
Tim Wakefield(1-5) took the loss.  He was touched for 9 hits and 4 walks in 6
and 1/3 innings.
